There are different types of diseases that you can be diagnosed
with due to consuming gluten in your regular diet. The main disease that occurs
due to the gluten problem is the celiac disease. This disease happens due to
the auto immune upset that affects the body by being vulnerable to fighting
gluten and therefore, the gluten starts harming the important organs of the
body. The gluten sensitivity affects one in almost 150 people.
Another similar problem that can mostly occur in the kids
is the wheat allergy. Its symptoms are entirely different from the gluten
sensitivity, in which the gluten induces the inflammation in the intestines. According
to the latest statistics, around 6% people are sensitive to gluten. The gluten
sensitivity can occur any time in your life, it doesn’t matter when, and some
people develop gluten sensitivity later in their life. So it is important that
you keep a regular check and maintains a good health by consuming only the
foods like gluten free black and white cookies instead of the regular cookies.
Now the question arises that why there is a sudden uproar
of gluten and its sensitivity? Is it that the gluten sensitive individuals or
the people with celiac disease are on the rise due to our changing lifestyle,
or is it just that we are now more cautious? Experts say that both are somewhat
the valid reasons. The wheat that causes wheat allergy is different from the
regular wheat. This is due the fact that about seven decades ago, there was
practiced the program that enabled scientists to make hybrid variety of
different grains including the wheat. The scientists at that time modified the
wheat to make its grains much smaller, sturdy, but with the excessive amount of
gluten in it. At that time, they didn’t know the harmful effects of wheat on
our bodies. What people wanted at that time was speed, they wanted to bake the
bread faster, but they didn’t realized that this would leave more gluten in
their breads.
To help the cause, people now days are more conscious
about adopting a wheat free diet, supermarkets have special corners where they can
find the ready made gluten free pizza crust and other foods so that people can make better diet choices.
